Morpheme

Did you ever hear about morpheme ?

Maybe it sounds familiar for 4th semester of english education program , thats why i would like to show you definition of morpheme and example of morhpeme, check it out !

We wil learn about morpheme in morphology subject, Morphology is a subject that learn about internal structure of words.

Morpheme is a short segment of language, but you should remember the words can be a morpheme if it meets three criteria :

1.      It is a word or part of word that has a meaning.

e.g  Straight , as we know Straight is a word, and when you find that word in dictionary it has a meaning, so we can conclude that Straight is a morpheme.

2.      It cannot be divided into smallest unit

e.g Straight, this word cannot divided to be strait, light or Eat

3.      It recurs an differing verbal envirovments with relatively stable meaning.

It means that when you use a word confiously it use stable meaning.

e.g Brighten, the word En have stable meaning, in Brighten the word En means (make light).
